Fears are a common phenomenon in human nature, especially when we face challenging situations where we are not in full control. Feeling fear is not necessarily a bad thing, in fact, it can be an indicator of areas where we need to work on and improve. The real problem arises when fear overcomes us, interrupting our progress and paralyzing our actions. To manage it properly, it is essential to learn to identify the sources of our fear and address them with effective strategies.

Fear should not be fought with the intention of eliminating it, but rather it is more effective to learn to control it with the proper emotional intelligence. The important thing is that it does not overcome you and that you understand that, as an emotion, it does not belong to the rational part of your brain, so you must be stronger than it.

An effective strategy to deal with paralyzing fear is to gradually expose yourself to situations that you find difficult to face.
If you feel such intense stage fright that it prevents you from interacting in public or giving a talk, start by exposing yourself in friendly environments where you feel more confident. In this way, your subconscious will progressively prepare itself to face more complex situations, using previous experiences as tools to shape your emotions.
As we mentioned, in many occasions feeling fear is not a negative symptom. Many of us have experienced fear in different aspects of our lives, but that has not prevented us from carrying out our actions without inconvenience. Fear is an instinctive survival response, designed to alert us to things that require our attention. It is not wrong to feel fear before giving a talk in English if we know we are not fluent in the language, this fear is signaling to you that you need to prepare better for the task you wish to perform. This type of fear should be addressed by observing our shortcomings and working on improving our personal skills.
