The way we manage our emotions and learn to deal with various situations that may cause us discomfort and suffering is fundamental to achieve stability and move forward in our daily activities. We do not always get the results we want, and we do not all have the same abilities to handle the problems that arise. This can lead to disorders such as depression, anxiety and stress.
We cannot influence circumstances that are beyond our control, however, it is feasible to learn how to respond to them in a more constructive way, which helps us recover emotionally more quickly.

Suffering is a complex emotion to manage, as it is often accompanied by many other emotional phenomena that threaten our stability and progress. The recommendation to rest should not make us fall into the error of thinking that taking time to heal implies disconnecting from the world completely. When we seek to recompose ourselves, what we do is to postpone those tasks or concerns that alter our mental well-being and that do not require our attention imminently. Focus only on the essential aspects of your life, those that you cannot neglect. This will help you save energy and focus your attention on the things that are truly important.
Neglecting essential aspects, motivated by not having the desire to face them, would be detrimental to your emotional state in the long run, since it would result in the appearance of new problems and consequently in the accumulation of more stress.
Many people feel guilt at not being able to restore their emotional state, while sadness predominates and they cannot cheer themselves up, they think they are to blame for how they feel. This usually ends up increasing the pressure even more, causing negative effects. You don't have to feel bad about your emotional state, just as you wouldn't feel bad about having a sore arm from a blow.
Although it is important that we make an effort to overcome the pain and avoid falling into excessive victimization, it is also essential that you learn to take care of yourself and prioritize your own interests. If you find yourself in a bad state of mind, you may just need to accept it as it is, while your mind regains the strength to adapt to reality and heal the emotional wounds.
Emotional recovery requires a combination of time, personal commitment, acceptance and moments of rest. The more difficult experiences we face, the better prepared we will be to manage future situations that may generate pain or discomfort.
