Transcription Choosing your business name

Finding the right name for your new business can make or break it. You can choose yourself as a brand or your new business. It's your choice. Either way, it's always best to choose a simple, powerful name to facilitate your branding and marketing efforts.

There are thousands of very suitable company names, and you can choose to make your company's name as simple or as complicated as you wish, always keeping in mind its ease of promotion. An important aspect to keep in mind is to maintain name consistency across all social media platforms.

If for example your website is called Entrenasano and on Youtube you are as Entrenador Saludable, and on Instagram you are called Entrena para ser mejor, this will make it very complicated to find you across all your platforms to your customers, and that they can follow you.

For this we give you 10 suggestions to come up with an exceptional name for your company and your brand.

Stay away from complicated names

Stay away from complicated names that are difficult to spell. You want to avoid at all costs that customers get confused when searching for your brand online. Try not to be forced to correct the misspelled name.

I know from my own experience that my brand name is my own name Armando and many people spell it as Amanda or Amando and drop the R. So depending on whether your name is unique or not, you could use it as your brand name.

Don't choose a very limited name

Don't choose a name that is too limited, this can have consequences as you grow your business. Imagine if Netflix's name had been. Peliculas Online, it would not be the same. That's why my suggestion is to avoid names like Sandra's Fast Diet, if you ever want to expand beyond just fast diets.

Also avoid names that have a geographic location, such as Escuela Online de Barcelona since you would limit yourself to that city and delay a possible expansion. To summarize, you should never limit your business to a particular product or a specific location.

Do a detailed Google search first

Once you find the name you like, perform a detailed Google search on it first, as in many cases you will find someone else using the same name.

This is not a complete deterrent to using that name, you must first ask yourself if you are sure you want to use that name, or you can spell it differently always keeping it easy or you can choose a different name.

Correct spelling is very important

Many of the social media entrepreneurs use the names spelled correctly. So you should avoid names like fast fast diet with 1 hour a day or crossfit trainer fast fast in Barcelona.

Chances are the name you choose is already in use, but many domain owners are willing to sell it for the right price. Look at it as an investment and try to secure the name with the dot com domain. Check first the availability of a domain name on sites like GoDaddy or Network Solutions. And if the name is already taken, you can often find the owner and convince them to sell it to you.

Try to get the dot com domain

I advise you to try to get the dot com domain instead of others like dot net or other domain extensions, although any of them might work in the long run. They might need more promotional work as customers prefer to associate themselves with dot com companies.

Getting the name on the big social platforms

Important to also get your business name on the big four social platforms and consider Pinterest as well, if possible, if you plan to do content with recipes or crafts. Snapchat is also a viable alternative, as well as the new generation platforms.

Choose a name that endorses something representative.

Always choose a name that endorses something representative. You need a business name that conveys positive characteristics with substance about yourself.

Easy understanding of the name

Try to make it easy for people to quickly understand what your business is about when they see your name, I know there are some nonsense company names like Google, Yahoo or Zappos but they have a certain appeal that makes them very catchy. Those types of names will come at a high cost to the brand.

Some examples of easy and clear domain names are: water, admin, ticktes, as they are simple and quickly convey what the business is about and make it easy to optimize in search engines.

Your goal should always be that your customers can mention the company name without any doubt and that it resonates with the target audience.

Receive feedback from family and friends

Once you have the name and have done all the relevant research I advise you to try to get feedback by choosing at least 10 names and tel
