Transcription Be a support for your customers

During this guide we will be addressing some issues related to the interpersonal treatment of clients, the way we conduct our coaching sessions and the role we play as support and support for them. Being a coach is not just any service, the work of a coach is not limited to transmitting knowledge and getting paid for it.

The coach is a professional who must be more deeply involved than the rest, interested in aspects that go beyond the professional, but that in one way or another are related to the results that our client can achieve. That said, the coach has to be a support for his clients, so that they can find in their coach a right hand to whom they can turn to solve doubts and face complex scenarios.

That is why we will now be analyzing several elements that are essential in the coach-client relationship.

Why should we play a supportive role towards the client?

You are probably wondering why you have to go beyond your job functions and also serve as a support to your clients, since in the end you only offer a service and you charge for it. It happens that the coaching service has different nuances than other services. When we hire an IT specialist to check our computer, we only expect him to fulfill his functions and solve our problem, so our relationship as a client with the IT specialist will end once he performs his work.

In the case of a coach the issue becomes a little more complex, because the coach's results are measured in the long term. It is impossible for the coach to advise his client, guide him and help him progress in his business if he does not get involved beyond the professional aspects and try to get to know the particularities of his client. The coach must perform extra tasks beyond transmitting information and experience, he has to be a support to his client to help him exercise the acquired knowledge in an effective way. If this is not done, everything would remain in mere theory, which is a very serious problem for an inexperienced client.

Follow up with your customers

One of the most effective ways in which you can support your client and know how effective your guidance is being towards satisfying their needs, is to constantly follow up on the results obtained by our client and how they are putting your recommendations and guidance into practice. Try to be aware of every step your client is taking with his business, communicate with him and get information on how he is managing each process.

Find out what their biggest concerns are and what obstacles are preventing them from accelerating their progress. These actions will be greatly appreciated by your client, since you will be showing that you really care that the services you provide to your clients are useful to them and that they can get the most out of them.

Correct as you go along

You cannot expect your recommendations and guidance to be immutable or to be adapted to each specific circumstance or aspect. To educate and guide our client, it is necessary to take into account a series of factors that arise randomly along the way.

You must be flexible when planning your strategies, pay attention to the circumstantial elements and if you detect that it is necessary to make modifications along the way, correct them in time and avoid mistakes that can become costly.
