The service you provide as a coach is valuable. The organizational and business sector has a great demand for this service because they have realized its advantages. It increases productivity without sacrificing the individual, on the contrary, it seeks to align professional and personal goals and reduces work stress.

But to reach this market you must be convinced of your value as a coach and what you can contribute. Establish yourself as the only solution for your ideal client. It's not about trying to sell your services at all costs, but about letting the right people know what you offer, what they will get out of the experience, how it benefits them to hire you and not someone else, and how you are going to get your message to them. This is marketing, but to create a good marketing strategy you need to be clear about your purpose and your target audience.

Why is a business coach important?

A business coach helps you find solutions, to discover exactly what you want to do. It is a professional companion who helps you develop the necessary skills to face a certain challenge through an action plan.

A business coach is necessary, for example, when a client already has a goal in mind but has doubts about how to proceed in certain aspects or about what decisions to make.

In the business environment of established businesses he works with human talent on improving performance, motivation and communication both at the individual and team level.

These can be practical questions:

  • What is my mission?
  • How do I structure my business model?
  • When should I make a profit?
  • How many customers should I have?
  • How to manage a team of people?
  • How to delegate?
  • How to do the accounting?
  • What price should I set?
  • What product or service should I offer?
  • How to communicate better?

Or more subjective issues such as emotional blocks, fears and insecurities and stress.

Through methods, techniques and tools, a coach looks for ways to find the motivations that move the client, encourages them to be bolder, to prioritize their needs, identifies their strengths and enhances them, works to increase confidence and self-esteem, challenges the person to get out of their comfort zone and to set ambitious but realistic goals.

People who may need a business coach

Business coaching is especially appealing to those businesses that are starting from scratch, to entrepreneurs who may be starting out as leaders and managers for the first time. But it is not limited to these, at the organizational level it helps to achieve business goals by working with groups or teams, and at the executive level with key people within the organization.

Some of the reasons why they hire this service are:

  • They need to clarify their business vision and how to balance it with their personal goals.
  • They are in the process of launching a business.
  • They are about to enter a new market.
  • They are in the process of creating or launching a new product/service.
  • They feel that the business is growing faster than they are able to manage.
  • People with a desire to prosper financially.
  • They need to leverage their strengths and manage their weaknesses.
  • They are frustrated at not being able to lead their employees.
  • They have difficulty communicating clearly.
  • They are preparing for another position or role.
  • They have inappropriate behaviors that annoy or hurt others.
  • People with difficulty analyzing the causes and consequences of their actions.

Tips for attracting customers

It is no secret that the Internet has made it easier for consumers to be much more prepared and informed than in the past, which translates into bargaining power. People have an infinite number of options to compare and choose from, they only become customers if they are truly convinced that it is the best solution for them.

To attract customers you have to know what they want, in terms of specific needs. Know where that ideal customer moves for you and what service you can offer them to choose you. Letting your personality shine through in every message you send is very important. Project an image as close to you and the values you represent.

Some tips to be successful in getting clients:

  • Specialize in one topic: even within business coaching there is a wide range of possibilities. You should focus on a topic in which you feel strong and in which you feel motivated to research and continue to deepen every day. Providing an exclusive service will help you find and insert yourself in a niche market.
  • Define your ideal coachee: By targeting a specific group you can better understand their needs and how to meet them. Even if you wanted to, you don't have the resources to reach everyone. Also, when working with motivations, desires and skills development, the differences between people are accentuated even within the same market. You must put yourself in the place of your ideal client and ask yourself: What kind of person needs my services? What kind of problem does he/she have? What situation is he/she going through and how does it affect him/her? What can I offer him/her? Why would he/she reject your service? Where can I find him/her?
  • Create your personal brand: you must position yourself as an expert in the topic you choose. Work on your visibility through marketing strategies that include generating quality and interesting content for that ideal client. You must build the platform that will serve to show you for example a website, write a blog, insert yourself in the appropriate social networks; but also participate in events, seminars, workshops, in order to use various channels to send your message.
  • Include different offers: design several services and products. By giving people several options, they feel they have more control over their choices. You also give them the opportunity to progress according to the level of participation they want and their economy.
  • Offer services at a more affordable price with workshops, seminars, group sessions. Offer a high value service that is fully customized, and obviously more expensive.
  • Offer different packages for every pocket.
  • Offer some free resources especially if they serve to reinforce marketing strategies such as publications, infographics, videos, a podcast, a presentation, among others.
  • Charge for your services: charging for your services is related to the perception of your own value. It is necessary to establish a fee regardless of whether you include some commercial strategy to convince undecided people. For example, it is better to offer programs of sessions and not single sessions.

Likewise, instead of giving the first session free, you can offer the possibility of returning a certain percentage if you are not satisfied:

  • Focus on the benefits of your service: when promoting your services try to be specific with the benefits that the person is going to get when hiring you. Until they experience it they will not be able to see the real scope of the help they will receive, so state directly what they will get: What and how much? How? and In what time?
  • Network with other coaches: build your network and establish alliances with other coaches with whom you can exchange referrals. A good place to meet other coaches in addition to social networks is for example by joining associations related to the sector you want to work in.
  • Ask clients for recommendations: if your clients are satisfied it may be a good idea to ask them to recommend you or to participate in some promotional material but in reality the most important marketing is word of mouth and if you have truly facilitated a positive change in their life, they will spontaneously recommend you.
