Transcription Stress with business coaching

Stress is considered one of the most dangerous causes of health deterioration in the world. Unlike many known fatal diseases, stress operates silently and is often underestimated under the conception that it is only a temporary problem. This can lead to ignoring its evolution and the possible triggers of secondary diseases.

It is crucial to be aware of the need to know our body and to recognize the moments when we might be going through a period of stress. Our body works like a machine, where any failure in one of its parts is reflected in the others. During this guide, we will address some of the basic questions you should know about this phenomenon so that you can prevent it and face it with the right tools.

Definition

Stress is a psychological state that is harmful to human health and is caused by mental collapse and exhaustion induced by demanding more from a person than he or she is capable of. As a result, the organism experiences physical and psychological alterations that manifest themselves as disorders such as overwhelm, sadness, anxiety, nervousness and frustration.

If we compare it to physical exercise, it is like trying to lift a much heavier weight than our muscles and joints can handle, instead of developing the muscular system progressively. The same happens with the mind: when the level of demand exceeds the brain's capacity to respond, stress is induced, accumulating as an injury that worsens over time.

It is important to clarify that stress, as a pathology, manifests itself as a kind of injury. We can diminish or aggravate it according to our actions, but acting recklessly can considerably intensify its effects.

Health effects

Stress significantly influences most of the vital processes of the organism. It acts as a memory blocker, making memorizing even the simplest things an arduous task.

People under stress often experience a decrease in their work performance. One of the elements that suffers most is sleep, with serious disturbances that prevent full rest. This can lead to other problems such as weight gain due to excessive release of glucose in response to the body's alarm signals, which usually results in serious effects on the body.

The emotional state is also affected, with feelings of anxiety, fear and lack of confidence. These aspects can be very negative in family life and social interactions. Often, a disregard or reluctance towards responsibilities develops, entering a cycle where stress increases due to not being as productive as desired, while productivity decreases due to the paralysis caused by the stress itself.

It is crucial to manage stress with stoicism, preventing external impacts from affecting our emotions. Discipline and on-the-spot fulfillment of responsibilities are recommended. Most stressful situations are generated by unfulfilled obligations, so attending to these tasks may be enough to relieve stress.

If the stressful situation cannot be solved because it exceeds our current capabilities, you should eliminate it without fear. No obligation can compensate for the risk to your health associated with that emotional and mental state.
