Proposal for a healthy detox diet

If food has moved to the top of your list of priorities, you are prepared to make an effort and you trust that your nutritionist is able to set a healthy meal plan, fully adapted to your needs, it is the ideal time to initiate a major change in your eating habits, which will have a positive impact on your health and in all areas of your life.

To achieve the best detoxification of the body, it is not a matter of doing an extremely rigorous diet one, two or three days, but a gradual transformation of our eating habits is required; so although it is practically essential to make a stricter initial purification, the most important thing is to maintain after this stage, a healthy diet for life.

The Detox diet that we propose is 11 days, and is divided into three main phases:

  • Elimination phase, should be developed between the first and the fifth day. In this phase, important changes are made in your diet to prepare your body for the main phase. This phase can be compared to the physical warm-up that athletes do before a training session or a match.
  • Antioxidant phase, should be developed between the sixth and eleventh day, is where the main detoxification of your organs and systems takes place.
  • Maintenance phase, should be developed from the eleventh day, the objective of this phase is to ensure that the changes made in your body last over time.

First elimination phase: During the first five days, all foods that hinder the detoxification of the liver, kidneys and colon will be excluded from the diet; and at the same time, the consumption of foods that promote the detoxification process of the same organs will be increased. This stage helps to strengthen the immune system and initiates the process of elimination of toxins.

Foods that should be excluded from the diet during this stage are:

  • Alcoholic beverages, coffee, green tea, sugar, dairy, foods containing gluten, processed and canned foods, among others.
  • The foods included in the diet must be organic, fresh and pure (they cannot have other ingredients).

The most recommended are:

  • Vegetables, fruits, gluten-free whole grains (rice and buckwheat), fresh fruits; organic legumes, poultry meats, white fish, eggs; olive oil, and fish oil; condiments and aromatic herbs; and natural beverages (filtered water, vegetable and fruit juices, coconut water, etc.).

Second antioxidant phase: From the sixth day on, the objective is to increase the rate of detoxification, for which it is recommended to add to the diet proposed in the first phase, some light foods (vegetable and fruit smoothies) rich in antioxidant nutrients and fiber. To achieve this, Detox juices are ideal, prepared from mixtures of fruits and vegetables such as: celery, apple, broccoli, carrots, red fruits, pineapple, cucumber and blueberry among others.

During this stage, the same foods proposed for the first stage should be consumed and the same prohibitions should also be maintained: alcoholic beverages, coffee, green tea, sugar, dairy products, foods containing gluten, processed and preserved foods, among others
