Transcription Bioindividuality

Bioindividuality is one of the most important concepts within holistic nutrition. Holistic nutrition, as a lifestyle, goes beyond being a diet, it does not believe in the generalization that prevails in the fields of nutrition, where we are led to believe that any diet is suitable for all types of people, which leads to many of those who decide to undertake a strict diet end up abandoning it or simply leads to a rebound effect that makes them quickly regain all the pounds of weight they have lost.

During this guide we will analyze the most distinctive aspects that characterize bioindividuality as an element of utmost importance when it comes to establishing a healthy eating style for a particular subject.

What is bioindividuality?

Bioindividuality as a concept refers to the need to take into account the particular characteristics of each subject when recommending a healthy eating style. Each person is different, the organisms of two people may differ in many factors, which is why what we consider healthy and optimal for some may be counterproductive for others.

Based on this thesis, bioindividuality tries to break with the obsolete schemes of considering that since we are all human, the same rules should be applied to all of us. The truth is that each individual's caloric expenditure is determined not only by the calories he or she ingests or does not ingest, but many factors come into play here, such as the level of physical activity performed, the pathologies that his or her organism may present, the level of rest his or her body receives, the amount of water drunk, height, age, among many others.

This makes us realize that it is of the utmost importance that in terms of nutrition, everything that is practiced has the highest possible degree of personalization, not copying routines from other people's food plans and trying to understand the functioning and state of our organism as a whole.

Bioindividuality in exercise

The concept of bioindividuality does not only apply to nutrition. As we know, any healthy lifestyle combines the quality of our meals with an optimal exercise routine. When it comes to exercise, bioindividuality must be more present than ever, what may be useful for some may be unsustainable for others.

There are people who, on the recommendation of others, start running in the mornings and last barely a week before giving up. This happens in general, not because they don't like or can't resist physical activity, but because they have chosen an exercise routine that is not suitable for their current conditions.

Perhaps what suits you best is swimming, because you are more entertained by that activity and you are good at it, or maybe instead of aerobic exercises you prefer strength exercises. In any case, the important thing is that what we are going to perform can be sustained over time, so we must choose activities that we feel good with, not those that can be recommended to you.

Recommendations

Try to apply bioindividuality to every aspect of your lifestyle, look for things that work for you. No matter how many recommendations you are given, if something does not provide concrete results you should abandon it and not continue with it, remember that each organism is a world and that what works for some does not necessarily have to be good for you. If it is within your possibilities, accompany yourself with an expert during the first months of your change of eating style, this will allow you to devise a sustainable plan that meets your particular requirements.
