Transcription Muscles

Muscles are made up of a series of tissues that contract to facilitate the mobility of the body, they need food and oxygen to function normally, from which they obtain enough energy to perform the contractions that allow the human body to locomote.

To learn more about the functioning and characteristics of the muscles, we propose the following guide, where we will review some basic questions that may be of interest to you when it comes to deepening your knowledge of human anatomy.

Classification

For the purpose of studying the functioning of muscles in an organized manner, they are usually classified into three essential groups: smooth muscles, skeletal muscles and cardiac muscle.

Smooth muscles are those that intervene in blood flow through relaxation and contraction. They are located mainly in the vicinity of the arteries and intestines. Those located near the arteries are dedicated precisely to what was described above, regulating blood flow, while those located around the intestine favor the transport of food and feces from the organism.

The skeletal muscles fulfill a function of vital importance for the organism, since without them human locomotion would be impossible. They are contracted by signals emitted by our nervous system and act on our command, contrary to the smooth muscles that enjoy a certain autonomy. They cover and protect the skeleton and are the ones we normally work on and strengthen when we go to the gym or do any type of exercise.

Finally, the cardiac muscle is the one that is popularly known as myocardium, this is in constant operation, its movement is involuntary and we cannot control it. It helps the pumping and normal functioning of the heart.

Muscles, tendons and bones

There is a close relationship between muscles, tendons and bones. This relationship is most pronounced at times when we observe how the movement of our body works. In order to move, it is necessary to move our bones through a displacement of our body, here the tendons intervene, as a kind of union between the bones and the muscles, allowing that by means of the muscular contraction the movement previously mentioned can be carried out.

Injuries

Muscles can also be injured. If you have done strength exercises in a gym, you will have noticed that especially at the beginning, it is very common to feel a lot of pain the day after the exercise session. This is because the muscles have been forced to perform a higher force than they were prepared for, which results in micro tears in the muscle fibers, forcing the muscle to grow and stre
