Transcription The essence of deep gratitude

Gratitude, a fundamental strength in positive psychology, transcends the simple courtesy of uttering the word "thank you."

It is defined as a deep level of appreciation and recognition for something or someone, a feeling that encompasses a deeper and more meaningful appreciation of benefits received or positive qualities observed in the environment and in interactions.

Beyond Verbal Expression

While expressing gratitude verbally is an important manifestation of gratitude, its true essence goes beyond that.

It is not limited to a formal act or an automatic response to a favor received.

Deep gratitude implies an internal state of recognition and appreciation that may not always be externalized in words, but is felt intensely.

It is a feeling that arises from the awareness of the good that one has in life, whether material, relational or experiential.

A Deep Level of Appreciation

Gratitude in its most developed form involves a level of appreciation that goes to the core of the value of something or someone.

It's about not taking positive things for granted. It is about actively recognizing their importance and the favorable impact they have on one's life.

This deep appreciation can be directed toward people, opportunities, experiences, or even simpler aspects of everyday existence.

Components of Extended Gratitude

This deeper level of gratitude encompasses several interrelated feelings and actions.

It includes expressing thanks, but also sincere praise for the qualities or actions of others. It encompasses appreciation for what one has and for what others contribute.

It implies a recognition of the effort or kindness of others, and a sensitivity to perceive and value these aspects.

Genuinely praising others and being consistently grateful are manifestations of this complex strength, which is not reduced to a simple formality.

Rather, it reflects a vital orientation of recognition and appreciation. There are seven components that can be enclosed in this expanded vision: gratitude, praise, appreciation, acknowledgment, recognition, sensitivity, praise and willingness to be grateful.
