Transcription Simon sinek's golden circle
The golden circle, developed by author and speaker Simon Sinek, is a powerful concept that invites us to reflect on purpose and effective communication. In this session, we will explore in detail the golden circle and its three levels: the what, the how and the why. We will analyze how this approach can help us improve our public speaking and achieve a deeper connection with our audience.
The What - Surface Communication: The outer level of the golden circle is the "what". It refers to the most visible and tangible part of our message: what we do or what we offer. Many times, we focus only on this dimension, providing information about our products, services or skills. However, communication based only on the "what" can be superficial and not very impactful, as it does not connect emotionally with our audience.
The how - Strategy and processes: The middle level of the golden circle is the "how". Here we get into the details of how we do what we do. We may talk about our strategies, processes or methods. While this information is important, it is still insufficient to generate a deep connection with our audience. The "how" is a more rational and logical dimension, but it doesn't necessarily stir emotion or inspire action.
The Why - Purpose and Passion: The deepest and most powerful level of the golden circle is the "why". This is where the purpose, motivation and passion behind what we do lies. The "why" is the raison d'être, the deeper meaning of our actions. Communicating the "why" allows us to connect emotionally with our audience, awaken their interest and generate a lasting impact. It is through the "why" that we can inspire others and move them to action.
The importance of starting with the why: The golden circle approach teaches us that starting with the "why" is fundamental to effective communication. By communicating our purpose and passion, we create a solid foundation to then explain the "how" and the "what." Starting with the "why" allows us to connect with the values and emotions of our audience, building trust and loyalty to our brand or message.
To apply the golden circle in our public speaking, we must reflect on our purpose and find the real reason behind what we do. What is our motivation and how do we want to impact the lives of others?
