Transcription How to motivate your audience

Motivation is one of the most important and difficult elements to get from an audience. When we manage to keep our audience enthusiastic, it is easier to retain their attention and communicate a message that reaches them more effectively.

Many speakers have excellent charisma, which helps them achieve this goal. Being empathetic and communicating with energy is important to connect with the audience. The degree to which our message is received will depend on the connection we make with our audience.

During the development of this session, we will be making some general recommendations to keep your audience motivated during the speech. This will be useful when it comes to perfecting your public speaking technique, helping you in the elaboration of more effective speeches.

The importance of charisma: It is not uncommon for a large number of people in your audience to stay and listen to you because they enjoy your charisma more than your message. It is inevitable that connections are generated between the audience and the speaker.

We all assimilate an idea better when the source that emits it is to our liking. It is enough to remember our times as students, while some professors were boring and could not hold our attention, others, just by the energy they transmitted, could awaken our interest in the subject.

Get used to communicate with charisma and make an effort so that your audience perceives you in a good emotional state. When exchanging with your audience, do it with energy and passion. Make it clear that you enjoy sharing with them and tell them about your enthusiasm. Empathy is an intrinsic human ability. This is what makes us perceive the emotional state of other people and feel like them. This phenomenon explains why we laugh when we see others laugh or why a simple smile can improve our mood.

Use empathy to your advantage: the more energy you transmit, the more motivated your audience will be. If those who have come to listen to you perceive joy and enthusiasm from you, these emotions will be replicated by them at a subconscious level.

Emphasize the usefulness of your speech: The presentation phase of your speech is fundamental when it comes to awakening your audience's genuine interest in it. One of the most effective ways to take advantage of this presentation is to know how to convey concisely how useful your speech will be for everyone present.

Of course, there are presentations that do not have informative purposes or that do not communicate a message that can result in personal and professional growth for your audience. In these cases, where the central motive of the speech revolves around entertainment or the harmonization of an event, you can highlight what the expectations of the event are and how pleasant or entertaining it will be for your audience.

Exchange with the audience: Another of the most used strategies to keep the audience motivated is the exchange with them during the speech. In presentations that, due to their length, format and design, allow it, introduce questions or phrases that allow the audience to exchange with you and express their ideas.

This type of resource allows you to break the monotony that can result from listening to the same person speak for a long time. This way you can recover the attention lost during the presentation and take a break to rest and prepare for the next lines of your speech.
