Transcription Definition and essence of coaching

Conceptualization of the reflective and creative process

Sports coaching is defined, in its most essential core, as a sophisticated process of accompaniment that is distinguished by being reflective and profoundly creative.

Its mission is not simply to correct technical errors, but to maximize the athlete's personal and professional potential in a comprehensive manner.

Unlike traditional teaching or conventional sports training, where the flow of information is unidirectional - from the expert who knows to the student who ignores - coaching operates under a different premise.

It does not focus on direct technical instruction or mechanical correction of the gesture, but on facilitation.

The coach acts as a catalyst who, through advanced communication tools, allows the individual to discover his or her own solutions, resources and internal strategies that may have remained latent or blocked.

It is a matter of awakening the inner wisdom of the athlete's body and mind, assuming that he is the one who knows his sensations best, even if sometimes he does not know how to interpret them.

The performance gap and dynamic potential

The raison d'être of this discipline lies in identifying and closing the "performance gap".

This gap is the distance, sometimes painful and frustrating, that exists between the athlete's current state (where he/she is, what results he/she obtains today) and the desired state (where he/she wants to be, what marks he/she wants to achieve).

Coaching establishes a collaborative relationship, a strategic alliance, to build the bridge between both realities.

Fundamentally, this methodology challenges the old view of talent as static or genetic.

It is based on the firm belief that talent is a dynamic and expansive capacity.

It is not a fixed deposit, but a quality that can grow exponentially if the right levers of self-awareness and accountability are applied.

The goal is not only to improve an isolated chronometric mark, but to transform the entire mentality with which the athlete faces both the daily training and the pressure of high competition.

Scientific basis: Performance and interferences

This approach is not esoteric; it has a solid scientific basis nurtured by humanistic psychology and experiential learning theories.

It is based on the fundamental equation of the "Inner Game", which postulates that Performance equals Potential minus Interferences (R=P-I).

From this point of view, the coach's job is not so much to add more physical potential (which is the task of the physical trainer), but to eliminate or drastically reduce internal interferences.

These interferences are fears, doubts, excessive self-criticism and mental blocks that prevent talent from flowing naturally.

By eliminating these internal barriers, the athlete does not need to try harder to be better, he simply stops self-boycotting, allowing his ability to emerge with fluidity.

Summary

Sports coaching is a sophisticated and creative process that seeks to maximize the athlete's potential. It is not a one-way technical instruction, but a facilitation that awakens latent inner wisdom.

It acts as an advanced catalyst, allowing the athlete himself to discover personal solutions and strategies. The main objective is to close the performance gap between current state and goals.

This methodology considers talent as a dynamic and expansive capacity. It relies on scientific bases to eliminate mental interference, allowing natural ability to emerge with fluidity and total confidence.
