Having confidence in ourselves, in our abilities and in the actions we take is essential if we wish to project an image of security. Acting with confidence is nothing more than taking responsibility for the decisions we make. This does not imply that we must be the best or that we cannot make mistakes, but that we are willing to face each situation with the right attitude.
Self-confidence is hard to acquire and easy to lose. In the face of setbacks, we can become too cruel with the way we judge ourselves, which leads to a decline in our self-esteem and a fear of taking on new tasks.

There are many factors that affect our ability to trust ourselves. These factors are similar to those that affect confidence in general. For example, if we entrust someone with a task and they fail to achieve the expected results, we are likely to be hesitant to entrust them with a similar task again. Failure reduces trust, as we perceive an inability to meet our expectations.
However, judging trust based on successes or failures alone is not the most appropriate thing to do. Making a mistake does not mean that a person is destined to repeat it. In fact, it is more likely that, after gaining experience, that person will be more likely to succeed because he or she will know how to avoid past mistakes.
Trust must be based on deeper elements, such as loyalty, consistency and attitude in the face of adversity. Learning to forgive mistakes is essential to maintain self-confidence. We should not judge ourselves only by our failures, but also consider the external factors that influence results.
The most important elements in maintaining self-confidence are attitude and consistency. We cannot trust ourselves if we are not consistent with what we do and what we want. Nor can we trust ourselves if we have a bad attitude. Whenever we give our best, we should be proud of our efforts, even if the results are not what we expected.
The way we look at the facts can change our perception of when something deserves to disappoint us and when it is just part of a natural process. Take care of your self-esteem and be confident in your decisions, regardless of the outcome. Your confidence should not depend solely on whether things go right or wrong, but on how you face each situation and how you handle adversity.
Remember that you are your greatest ally. If you are not able to trust yourself, how can you trust other people?
