You are what you do - life coaching

Maintaining an adequate coherence between what we believe and defend, with what we do day by day, is essential when it comes to aligning our values and ethical principles with our actions. The virtues that we are not able to show become non-existent in the eyes of other people. It is worthless to know that we can project a powerful and positive image to society when we choose to maintain negative patterns of behavior that interfere with the way others think we are.

When we fail to express what we really feel, we are judged by our actions and not by our principles. To those who observe us from the outside, our actions are the only thing that counts when forming an opinion about us. Throughout this guide, we will examine several fundamental aspects related to this topic, analyzing the relevance that our actions have on society's perception of us.

Don't hide your virtues

Your talents and skills are meant to be shared, not hidden, as this will only make them non-existent to those who do not know us. They will judge us for our flaws, this is natural, so it is also important that they know our positive aspects, as the negative ones will always be in the light without us being able to do much to hide them. It is not wrong to know our negative side, this is part of us and complements our personality, the mistake is to be afraid or ashamed to show what stands out positively in us.

Is the image that others have of us important?

Although the most important thing is how you perceive yourself, the image that others have of us should also be of great interest to us. It is a reality that we cannot deny, what others think we are is formed as a result of what they appreciate about us. It would be irresponsible to say that we do not need them to have a positive view of us, the reality is that we are social beings and we depend a lot on our interaction with the environment around us.

It is always important to take care of the image you project, paying attention to how you are perceived and understanding which are the factors that are influencing the way you are perceived. The idea is not that you live pending to what others believe about you, but that you make an effort so that your social image is coherent with what you believe in and the value system you profess.

An individual is not a reflection of your social image.

You should not confuse the image you project with the image that someone else may have of you. Before letting yourself be impacted by the opinion of a small group of people, you should ask yourself if this is indeed the image that the vast majority of people have of you. There are many factors that can influence us to be perceived in a wrong way, among them are the specific experiences of each person.

Despite this, it does not mean that we should improve something in our behavior, but it may be due to a very particular event, which is not at all a reflection of what we are projecting. You should not fake your personality to please others, just worry about being an honest person in what you do, behave coherently towards what you believe and do not imitate other people's attitudes in order to fit into social groups that are not compatible with your system of values and ethical principles.
