Transcription Development of interdependence

Teamwork is the key to success. We are individuals but we have decided to live in society because of the advantages this represents, society is the most efficient social structure we have found to develop and survive as a species. Recognizing the individual characteristics of each person allowed us to carry out the division of labor, where each one takes care of the things in which he/she excels best. When we think of a company, whatever its size, it functions as a small society, with its citizens and its government.

Interdependence is one of the most important factors in any business, if we want to take advantage of the maximum potential of each of its members. In this guide we will delve a little deeper into this topic and its advantages within our business.

Dependency

Before going into the study of the concept of interdependence, we will begin by analyzing what dependence is. Dependency, as far as employee behavior is concerned, refers to the employee's need to receive constant guidance from the boss. The superior will act as the brain at all times, leaving very little room for the worker's spontaneous development.

This system has many problems. First of all, it creates an unhealthy link between the stability and efficiency of the supervisor or boss and the productivity of the work. Bad orientations, mistakes or a bad day of the boss can be enough to ruin the worker's work completely. Another very evident problem is the waste of the worker's individual resources, each person has his own talents and abilities, that if they are not developed spontaneously, they cannot be shown. Maybe your employee is a good designer, but if the boss does not give him some space for improvisation, his talent could be completely wasted.

It happens that in many occasions we hire someone to manage our social networks, then we discover that this person is not only very good at his job, but also has skills and talents that can be exploited in other spheres, of course under a dependency regime this would be impossible to know.

Independence

Contrary to dependence, independence means leaving the employee's entire development to free will. This is extremely dangerous, because the lack of guidance and supervision can lead to work being done poorly. The supervisor plays a very important role, this should not be ignored, because otherwise the employee will not have the proper guidance to correct in time a poor execution of the work, which will result in loss of time and economic resources.

Interdependence

Interdependence is a balanced combination of dependence and independence. The aim is for the employee to have general guidance and supervision from the boss, but for his work system to allow him sufficient freedom to innovate, contribute and reason.

Interdependence is the formula for ensuring that the desired work is done without suppressing additional aspects that could add value to the work. If what we want is to have a qualified staff to manage our accounting, we will ensure that this staff has space to advise us, develop their own initiatives and above all we will value that they are the expert and not us, so that their opinion on accounting issues should have more attention than that of the boss.

In this way, if the boss has a bad day, this should not affect the productivity of his employee, who knows how to work independently and does not need the constant control of his superior.
