Transcription The Positive Education Model

The equation of well-being in the school environment

Positive education integrates the findings of scientific psychology on human well-being into the school curriculum.

Its premise is that the school should not only teach academic skills, but also skills for happiness and a fulfilling life.

Within this framework, a "well-being formula" is proposed, composed of two major variables: the "I" and the "We".

The "I" component refers to inner balance, self-knowledge, emotional management and the development of personal strengths.

It is the introspective work necessary to be at ease with oneself. The "We" component addresses the social and relational dimension.

We are gregarious beings and our well-being is intrinsically dependent on the quality of our connections with others.

In the classroom, this translates into fostering empathy, collaboration, a sense of belonging and contribution to the community.

Positive education seeks to balance these two spheres, understanding that a student who is academically brilliant but socially isolated or emotionally unstable is not a student who has achieved educational success in its broadest and most human sense.

Passion, Vision and Mission Alignment

For learning to be meaningful and motivating, it must connect with the individual's inner drivers. The educational coaching model works on the alignment of three key concepts.

Passion is the life energy, what the learner (and the teacher) loves to do, what makes them lose track of time.

Introducing elements of passion in the classroom reactivates the natural interest in learning. Vision is the projection into the future, the long-term goal.

Helping the student visualize who he wants to be and where he wants to go gives a sense of direction and purpose to his daily efforts.

Finally, the Mission is the transcendent purpose, the "what for" of our actions in relation to others.

When a student understands that their education is not only for their personal benefit, but will allow them to contribute something valuable to the world, their commitment deepens.

Educational coaching facilitates students to discover and articulate their own passion, vision and mission, thus creating an internal compass that will guide them through academic and life challenges, turning school into a space of personal fulfillment and not just obligation.

Summary

Positive education integrates scientific psychology to teach skills for a fulfilling life. It proposes to balance individual well-being with the quality of our social connections.

The "I" component works on self-awareness and personal emotional management. The "We" component fosters empathy, a sense of belonging and collaboration within the school community.

Aligning passion, vision and mission allows learning to be meaningful and motivating for the learner. Helping them discover a transcendent purpose deepens their commitment to their integral formation.
