Transcription Vocational Training and Employability
From learner to professional: identity and soft skills
Vocational Education and Training (VET) is eminently practical and market-oriented in nature, which requires a more rapid identity change.
Coaching at this level focuses on helping the student to stop seeing himself as a "student who passes exams" and start seeing himself as a "technician who solves problems".
Especially in dual modalities, where the classroom alternates with the company, it is vital to work on professional ethics, punctuality and responsibility, competencies that companies value as much or more than technical knowledge. This is where soft skills come to the fore.
While the educational center teaches "know how to do" (operate a machine, program code), the coach trains "know how to be": how to communicate effectively with an angry customer, how to work in a diverse team or how to adapt to sudden changes.
Coaching simulates real work situations for the student to develop assertiveness and resilience, ensuring that their job placement is successful not only because of their aptitude, but also because of their professional attitude.
Entrepreneurship and self-employment mentality
Given the changing employment landscape, many VET and university students will choose the path of entrepreneurship.
Educational coaching acts as an incubator for entrepreneurial talent.
The student is helped to transform a technical idea into a viable business project, working on vision, mission and strategy.
But beyond the business plan, work is done on the entrepreneurial mindset: tolerance of uncertainty, risk management and the ability to pivot in the face of failure.
The coach helps the student to identify his or her internal resources and build a support network.
Proactivity is encouraged so that, instead of waiting to be hired, the student is able to detect needs in the marketplace and offer solutions.
Whether they decide to start their own company or act as an "intrapreneur" within an organization, this value-generating mindset is the ultimate competency
