Transcription The metaphor of the subconscious anchor
Emotions and Subconscious Programming as an Anchor
We can imagine that our goal is a distant island and that we are on a boat. Our conscious will is the engine of the boat, propelling us toward the island.
However, we often feel that no matter how much speed we push, we are not moving forward. This is because we have a subconscious anchor dropped at the bottom of the sea.
The Fight of the Conscious Will Against the Subconscious Anchor
That anchor is made up of our limiting beliefs, our fears, and our subconscious emotional programming. These are the parts of us that, for whatever reason, don't want to reach the island.
The conscious will (the engine) can expend an enormous amount of energy fighting against the resistance of the anchor. It's an exhausting and ultimately futile struggle.
Why moving the boat (action) is useless if the anchor isn't raised
The common mistake is to try to solve the problem by increasing the power of the engine (more willpower, more effort).
But no matter how powerful the engine is, it won't be able to move the boat if the anchor remains firmly planted. The only intelligent solution is to stop forcing the engine.
Directing conscious focus to analyze thoughts and triggers to ''raise the anchor''
The solution is to direct our conscious attention to the anchor.
We must dive into our subconscious world and ask ourselves: What belief or fear is holding me back? What part of me benefits from me not moving forward? Analyzing our thoughts and triggers (the origin of our emotions) is the process of "raising the anchor."
Once the anchor is up, the ship can move forward toward its destination with much less effort.
