Transcription From Arrival: Greeting and Waiting

Your demeanor from the time you set foot on the company premises until you meet the interviewer is part of the evaluation.

Projecting professionalism and friendliness in every interaction is critical.

Be friendly and professional with ALL staff (front desk, security, etc.).

Remember that the interview begins long before you sit down in front of the interviewer.

Treat everyone you interact with politely and respectfully: the security personnel, the receptionist, the person offering you water, etc. You never know who might comment on your attitude.

A smile and a "good morning" or "thank you" show good manners and create a positive atmosphere from the start.

Waiting room behavior (Professional, avoid distractions or visible nervousness).

While waiting, maintain a professional attitude. Avoid:

  • Playing with your cell phone or idly browsing social media. You can use it discreetly to review notes or check something relevant, but not for entertainment.
  • Showing excessive nervousness (fidgeting, nail biting).
  • Talking loudly on the phone.
  • Sit quietly, mentally review your key points or read some professional material if you have it with you.

Remember that you may be being watched.

Greeting the interviewer (Eye contact, smile, firm handshake, use your name).

When the interviewer comes to pick you up or you enter the room:

  • Stand up if you were seated.
  • Make direct eye contact.
  • Offer a genuine, friendly smile.
  • Give a firm handshake (not too limp or too firm).
  • Greet by saying your name (e.g., "Good morning, Mr. Mora" or "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Gomez").
  • Using your name shows attention and respect.
  • Wait until you are invited to sit down before doing so.
