Transcription Look for a job you enjoy
Success without fulfillment does not offer true satisfaction. There is a quest in people to try to achieve their full development and functioning. Self-realization according to the dictionary refers to the effective achievement of a person's aspirations or life goals for themselves, and the satisfaction and pride they feel for it.
Part of that fulfillment has to do with what you choose to do with your life, what you are going to contribute as a human being to make a difference. Fundamental to this is that we find meaning in what we do, and in today's landscape that's not easy to achieve. There are a lot of jobs that are empty of meaning and interest.
The challenge is to find something that excites us, that means something to us and has value for others, and in which we can deploy our capabilities. And of course that allows us to make a living from that effort. It's a balancing act.
What people tend to do when they find themselves stuck in a job they don't enjoy or that stresses them too much, is to look for another position. They simply react to the circumstances and want to distance themselves from what they come to detest. But this strategy does not solve our dissatisfaction in the long run. We are likely to end up repeating the same patterns and blaming others. We should not be at the mercy of our impulses or try to change blindly without analyzing what specifically is bothering us or hindering our personal fulfillment.
For example, perhaps the stress is caused by yourself, by not knowing how to negotiate and defend your interests. If you don't know what is causing your discomfort, you end up making the wrong decisions and feeling bored and apathetic. Maybe you like what you do, but you don't know how to control your emotions and they end up hurting you. It is necessary to review our internal dialogues and our emotions to determine precisely what we need.
Find your passion
The opinion of others is often a deterrent to finding your true passion or dedicating yourself to it. It is an external influence that can come from a person close to you, with good intentions, but who tries to impose their criteria and their reasons. If it is true that it is a common obstacle, the biggest challenge will always be with yourself.
Just imagine that you are excited about doing your job, that you can make a living doing what you like and what you are good at. For this you need to find that middle ground between your skills and your attitudes, between your talent and what you like.
The first step is to start a search for what you are passionate about, your vocation. It is necessary to dedicate some time to this because we spend a considerable amount of time acting under the conditions of others, and we tend to repress our dreams by choosing the comfortable and the safe.
We must explore our interests:
- Subjects you have been attracted to since childhood.
- Subjects that catch your attention even if you haven't had time to explore them well.
- Subjects that inspire you.
- Keep in mind the subtle difference between those topics that interest you only temporarily (such as a hobby), and those for which you can maintain a long-term interest and become a driving force in your life. The first case is related to the excitement of trying something new and the second is the result of an irresistible motivation and attraction.
Recognize your skills
One way to refine the pursuit of your passion so you don't follow fatuous fires is to recognize your skills. These also lead you to your true interest. When you put your skills to good use, you can feel that satisfaction and motivation in the activity you are doing. Think of a time when you have felt this way.
You should also ask yourself what you like to do, or what you excel in. What do you have a natural facility for? Do you communicate well with others? Do you have manual skills? Do you feel good about helping others? Do you have any artistic talents? Are you a creative person? Are you a good listener? Do you like to write? Anything you have demonstrated that you do better than average.
The sum of your passion and your skills gives you the fuel you need to go after your dreams, and keeps you motivated as you work toward your goals. It is the best formula for achieving high performance and acquiring that level of mastery that will allow you to excel and be rewarded financially as well.
It is your skills that will determine what you can specialize in within your chosen field. So a good analysis of your strengths is indispensable when it comes to changing your course. It doesn't matter if they are not fully developed, interest will add to the need to exploit them and you will be happy to do so.
Find meaning in what you do
It is not only important to find what interests you and have the conditions to do it, it is also necessary to have a meaning beyond the present and to use your
