Transcription Diet adaptation

Diets often sin of falling into generalizations, this is because when seeking to provide broader information, aimed at a large audience, it can be problematic to individualize in each particular aspect or needs of certain individuals. It is not that it is wrong to implement a general diet, these are usually created according to the characteristics of an average subject, for this weight, height, sex, among others, are valued.

However, if the goal is to increase the effectiveness of your diet, you must adapt it to your needs, taking into account what your goals are, your body type and the time you will spend on workouts during the week.

Next we will refer to some elements that you should consider before adapting your diet to your specific needs.

Elements to consider in tailoring the diet

The following elements should be considered at times of diet tailoring, they are not nearly the only ones, but they are of vital importance if you want to enhance the results of your diet plans and have a more personalized diet, which is in line with your goals and your primary objectives.

Weight and height

Weight and height are determining factors when it comes to dieting. In fact, there is a whole equation that seeks to relate these two aspects in the calculation of calories to be consumed daily.

This is the well-known "Harris-Benedict formula". Although it is true that almost all diets take these two factors into account, there is usually a variable to easily adapt the proportions presented to your personal physical characteristics.

Sex

The aforementioned Harris-Benedict formula also distinguishes between whether it is a man or a woman who will perform the diet. This is because there are big differences between both sexes, biologically we have the same needs and consume the same products, but it is the way each organism interacts with these foods that makes the differentiated treatment between both sexes special.

There are many aspects that influence this phenomenon, among the simplest to appreciate we could mention from processes that only concern women such as the menstrual period to obvious characteristics such as the difference between the muscle mass of a man and a woman.

Physical activity

Physical activity, especially in diets focused on weight loss, is an element to be valued significantly. A subject who exercises regularly tends to burn more calories than one who does not exercise. In turn, physical activity influences the metabolism, increasing the speed of many of our metabolic functions and contributing to the burn
