Transcription Intermittent fasting in the vegetarian diet

Intermittent fasting has become one of the most popular diets, showing efficacy both for weight loss and for improving certain aspects of health, such as insulin resistance. However, this style of eating can be complex without proper guidance, so it is essential to be well informed before starting.

Intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting consists of interrupting food intake for a certain period of time, except for water. There are several types of fasting, ranging from 8 or 12 hours to a full day without eating.

The objective of this diet is to allow the body sufficient time for cellular repair, reduce insulin levels and restore healthy patterns. Benefits include fat burning, blood pressure control, improved triglycerides and cellular development.

20-hour fast

This is one of the most challenging fasts. It involves eating very little for 20 hours, limiting your intake to vegetables and fruits in minimal amounts. At the end of the 20 hours, you have a period of 4 hours to consume a balanced meal that provides the necessary nutrients and fiber.

Daily fasting

Daily fasting is a very popular modality, where food intake is restricted to a period of 8 hours daily. During those hours you can eat normally, but it involves omitting an important meal, such as breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Alternate fasting

In alternate fasting, you fast completely one day, and the next day you return to a normal food intake. This method can be difficult to maintain long-term, as the body is accustomed to receiving food daily, making this type of fasting complicated for beginners.

24-hour fasting

This type of fasting involves not eating for an entire full day, making sure to drink enough water to avoid dehydration. The effects can be complex, including dizziness, fatigue and frequent malaise, so caution is advised when practicing it.

Effectiveness

Despite being a controversial diet, intermittent fasting has shown benefits, such as reduction of body fat, control of blood pressure, triglycerides and better cell
