Transcription Problems in the food industry
There is no doubt that the food industry is one of the most important worldwide. We can all do without luxurious objects or valuable goods, but when it comes to food, it is our top priority. Food is key to the development of human beings; poor nutrition is the fundamental reason behind many of the most deadly diseases we know today. Countries that see their food industry diminished often fall into major crises and social outbreaks, which is why each state has among its priorities to have a constant supply and production for its citizens.
Notwithstanding the above, the food industry also has very controversial aspects on which we must pay attention. We will be talking about all of this in the following guide.
Processed vs. organic food
Fresh and natural food is scarce or very expensive in most countries. This leads many people to turn to processed foods as an alternative to supplement their diets. Processed food is generally of low quality, unhealthy and not very nutritious. But the fundamental reason why it is much more accessible than natural food is because it has chemical additives that greatly facilitate the logistical processes to which it is subjected.
The preservatives that are added industrially help them to resist much longer without spoiling. They can also be stored and preserved more easily than natural food. All this leads large supermarkets to spend their funds and promotions on this type of products rather than investing in quality food, or when they decide to buy natural food, they increase its price to compensate for the high costs.
Processed food achieves nuances and flavors that are impossible to achieve naturally. This generates a visual and sensory bias on processed products, which often have a better taste and appearance than natural ones. All this has generated a very severe malnutrition problem, since the nutrients of natural foods are very easily lost during these processes.
Fast food
Fast food emerged as a response to the fast lifestyle. The idea behind it was that consumers could access food at very low prices and without having to wait a long time for it. From hamburgers, pizzas, sodas, among other very unnatural and high-calorie products, most fast food establishments offer this type of food. The truth is that fast food technically should not be considered food. Food is that which nourishes, not that which fills us with calories, sodium, sugar and very few elements that are useful for our organism.
