Cardiovascular diseases account for 33 percent of deaths in the world's population each year. These figures represent approximately 18 million people annually, making it the leading cause of death.

These figures are alarming in themselves, which has led the World Health Organization (WHO) to highlight in its reports the need to actively combat the main factors that trigger them.

In this guide we intend to address in a general way the basic characteristics that distinguish this type of diseases, the associated risk factors and the mechanisms to counteract the effect of these diseases. At the same time, we will analyze the impact that a vegetarian lifestyle can have as an effective complement for the treatment, mitigation and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Characteristics: When we refer to cardiovascular diseases we are referring to a whole conglomerate of affections and conditions developed in the organism, which put at considerable risk the cardiovascular system of our body. Therefore, starting by making a series of changes in our daily routines and the food we eat will be decisive in the future behavior of these conditions.

With this in mind, we will analyze how maintaining a vegetarian diet can influence the mitigation or prevention of the effects of cardiovascular disease.

Vegetarian diet: The vegetarian diet itself turns out to be one of the most effective in preventing the onset of cardiovascular diseases. For the elements that make it up, it is shown as a healthy eating style, low in fat and effective to keep our arteries clean, which in the end, are
