Integral well-being. Transversal application

Positive psychology, to be truly effective, must not be limited to an isolated area of life.

Rather, its principles and practices should be applied in a cross-cutting manner, encompassing all aspects of existence.

Integral wellness is achieved when balance and positivity are sought in family, work, friendships, personal development and other vital dimensions.

The Interconnection of Vital Areas

Our life is composed of multiple facets that influence each other. Well-being or discomfort in one area, such as work, inevitably affects others, such as family life or personal health.

For example, a person may be happy in his or her family environment but feel dissatisfied or stressed at work, or vice versa.

This dissonance prevents us from achieving full well-being.

Positive psychology, therefore, is not a tool to be applied selectively only where we feel comfortable or where change seems easier.

The Complete "Wall of Protection

If positive psychology is conceived as a "wall of protection" against mental illness and discomfort, this wall must be complete and surround all areas of life.

If only the family aspect is protected but the work, personal or economic aspects are neglected, "holes" are left through which problems can enter and affect the overall balance.

Mental illness or emotional distress can originate in any neglected area.

Therefore, the application of the principles of positive psychology must be comprehensive for protection to be real and effective.
