Transcription Curved Faces (Round and Oval)

Round face styling

In this morphology, the length and width of the face are very similar, with no defined angles at the jaw, creating a soft, circular appearance that is often associated with youth. The consultant's challenge is to "sculpt" angles and visually lengthen the figure.

Elements that repeat the circular shape should be avoided, such as heavy straight bangs or haircuts with volume on the sides of the ears, as they would further widen the face.

Instead, vertical and diagonal lines are favored, as well as volume at the top of the head (crown) to create an illusion of greater length and definition.

The Oval face and its versatility

Considered the canon of balance, the oval face is slightly longer than it is wide, with softly pronounced cheekbones and a jawline that curves delicately without being pointed.

Its great advantage is its versatility; with no noticeable disproportions to correct, it allows for almost any type of haircut, accessory or makeup style.

The consultant's work with this type of face focuses not on correcting, but on enhancing the client's most flattering features and avoiding elements that may break that natural harmony, such as hiding too much of the face with invasive hairstyles.

Simplified classification by width vs. length

If detailed analysis is complex, there is a simplified rule of thumb: determine whether the face is predominantly "wide" or "long".

If it is wide (round, square), the goal will always be to lengthen and slim centrally.

If it is long (rectangular, elongated), the objective will be to shorten and widen laterally.

This basic compass allows you to make quick and effective decisions about hairstyles and accessories without getting lost in geometric technicalities, facilitating communication with the client about their aesthetic needs.

Summary

The round face has similar length and width, lacking defined angles. The challenge is to sculpt features and verticalize the image using diagonal lines and volume at the crown.

The oval face is considered the canon of balance and aesthetic versatility. As it does not have notable disproportions, it admits almost any style, so the consultant focuses on enhancing features.

There is a simplified rule for quick diagnoses: determine whether the face is wide or long. If it is wide, you want to slim it centrally, and if it is long, you want to widen it laterally.
