Transcription Correct ways to present yourself

In this section, we will explore various aspects that will help you strengthen your skills. By practicing self-reflection, you will be able to develop the skills necessary to present yourself successfully in different situations.

In addition, by adopting a positive approach to your language, you will create a favorable self-image and convey a consistent attitude. This will have an impact on how your audience perceives you, making them more likely to listen to you and value your ideas.

Identity: Highlighting your uniqueness can be a challenge, as each person has a unique and individual identity. However, there are ways you can accomplish this:

  • Develop a list of personality traits that you feel best describe you. These may include qualities such as energy, creativity, analytical skills, organization, empathy, among others. Select those that you feel are most authentic to you.
  • Show your communication style. For example, if you are extroverted, show energy when you speak. If, on the other hand, you are more introverted, emphasize your listening skills. Adapting your communication style to your personality will help you stand out for who you are.

VIA Questionnaire: Identifying and assessing your skills is fundamental to developing self-awareness and tapping into your full potential. A valuable tool for this purpose is the VIA (Values in Action Inventory of Strengths) questionnaire. This tool used in positive psychology serves to identify and measure an individual's personal strengths. It consists of a classification of 24 universal strengths, such as creativity, gratitude, honesty, perseverance, among others. Upon completion of this test, a score is obtained that reflects the level of presence and utilization of each strength in the person's life.

Reflection: Taking the time to reflect and evaluate your past experiences also allows you to identify patterns and recognize areas in which you excel. Ask yourself: What activities do I enjoy? In what areas have I received recognition or praise? What skills do I feel I naturally possess?

In recognizing your strengths, it is essential to value them. This involves recognizing their importance and the positive impact they can have on relationships with others. Consider how they can contribute to your personal growth, goals and social interactions.

Positive language: Using positive language is critical when it comes to describing your strengths. Avoid excessive self-criticism. Instead of focusing on what you can't do or your weaknesses, focus on highlighting your capabilities.

When referring to yourself, choose words and phrases that reflect your learning and experiences. Instead of saying, "I'm not good at that," shift the focus to "I have strengths in other areas" or "I excel at that. By employing a constructive approach, you are transforming the way you perceive yourself and creating a more favorable perspective of yourself.
