Online meeting platforms have experienced remarkable growth in recent years due to the need to maintain virtual communication and collaboration. Tools such as Google Meet, Zoom and Skype offer a convenient way to organize meetings and conferences without the need to be physically in the same place.

These platforms enhance the expressiveness of communication by providing options such as video calls, real-time chat and the ability to share content visually.

Common features: There are some general features that are common to several online meeting platforms. These features include:

  • The option to record the meeting for later review or sharing with other participants.
  • Using reactions, emojis or emoticons to express your opinions or emotions.Manage and control the participant list, such as admitting or expelling participants, muting microphones, etc.
  • Share files and documents during the meeting for more efficient collaboration.
  • The ability to schedule meetings on an integrated calendar. Screen sharing to display presentations, documents or applications during the meeting.
  • A built-in chat that allows participants to send text messages during the meeting. As well as the ability to stream audio and video in real time for seamless communication.

Zoom: One of the most popular and widely used platforms is Zoom, which has gained popularity due to its ease of use and comprehensive feature set. Some of these features include:

  • Virtual background without the need for a green screen: Unlike other platforms, Zoom allows users to select virtual images as background without the need for a green screen. This provides greater flexibility in customizing the visual environment during meetings.
  • Co-host control: Allows other participants to be designated as co-hosts, giving them additional moderation and control functions during the meeting.
  • Virtual meeting rooms: Provides the ability to create virtual meeting rooms, allowing a main meeting to be divided into smaller groups for parallel sessions or specific discussions.
  • Raised hand mode: Participants can use the "raised hand" feature to indicate that they wish to speak or ask a question during the meeting.

  • Users can access and use Microsoft 365 applications directly within the platform, allowing them to perform tasks such as creating and editing documents, making presentations and more without leaving the application.
