The purpose of an online meeting is to establish the objectives and goals to be achieved. By clearly defining this purpose, the specific objectives and topics to be addressed are identified, which facilitates the planning, organization and execution of the meeting. A well-defined purpose helps keep participants focused on the relevant topics, avoiding unnecessary detour or discussions.

In addition, clearly communicating the purpose to attendees gives them the opportunity to prepare in advance, which encourages more active participation and contributes to the quality of input during the meeting.

Setting specific goals: Establishing concrete goals at a meeting is essential to provide a solid frame of reference. By having defined objectives, a clear basis on which the meeting will be developed is created. This allows participants to have a shared understanding of what is expected to be achieved and provides a starting point for planning and executing the necessary actions.

The definition of specific goals facilitates the identification of relevant actions and discussions to achieve the desired results. By having clear objectives, a clear guide is established as to what issues need to be addressed and what decisions need to be made during the meeting. This avoids distraction and wasted time.

Four common goals: In meetings, it is essential to be clear about the objectives being pursued. Four common goals in these meetings are:

  • Make decisions: It involves discussing different options and reaching consensus on the best solution to advance a project or solve a specific problem. Proposals are presented and evaluated, analyzing pros and cons, and the opinions of all participants are considered.

  • Project planning: Refers to establishing a detailed and coordinated plan to ensure successful execution. During a planning meeting, key aspects such as objectives, timelines, resources needed, responsibilities and milestones will be discussed. In addition, tasks will be assigned, deadlines will be set and potential risks will be identified. The expected outcome at the end of the meeting is to have a clear and structured plan to guide further work and allow for proper follow-up of the project.
  • Problem solving: When a team faces obstacles in the implementation of a project, the meeting focuses on analyzing, identifying the causes and proposing solutions. In this context, sharing experiences becomes a valuable resource. In the same way, the application of techniques such as lateral thinking or role-playing can be of great use in finding creative solutions and overcoming difficulties.

Lateral thinking and role-playing: Lateral thinking is a powerful technique that challenges traditional thinking patterns. Through this approach, participants are encouraged to explore new perspectives, think unconventionally and generate out-of-the-box ideas. This not only broadens solution possibilities, but also fosters innovation by approaching challenges from unexpected angles.

On the other hand, role-playing is another effective strategy used to stimulate participation and creativity in meetings. This dynamic consists of assigning participants specific roles, allowing them to represent different
