Transcription Social and family isolation
The "divide and conquer" strategy
Isolation of the victim is a fundamental pillar for the maintenance of control, since without external references, the aggressor's reality becomes the only truth.
The abuser initiates subtle smear campaigns against significant people in the partner's environment (family and friends).
He uses "monologues of destructive criticism", lies and false rumors to sow discord, presenting himself as the only loyal and reliable person.
Often he brands the victim as naive for not seeing the supposed evil in his loved ones, inducing her to mistrust those who could help her.
By eliminating the support network, he ensures that there are no witnesses who might validate the abuse or contradict his narrative.
The victim as agent of her own confinement
Paradoxically, much of the isolation ends up being executed by the victim herself.
Due to the psychic turmoil and constant tension in which she lives, her social behavior changes: she becomes shut down, obsessive or irritable.
Feeling unable to explain a violence that is invisible and subtle, she chooses to keep quiet and withdraw in order to avoid judgment or conflict.
In addition, the aggressor often provokes fights before social events or criticizes the victim after them, which leads the victim to avoid going out or receiving people in order to "keep the party in peace".
The environment, not understanding what is happening, begins to see her negatively, closing the circle of loneliness.
Emptiness and internal apathy
Isolation is not only physical or social, but also emotional within the coexistence itself.
The aggressor applies emptiness to the victim, ignoring her and denying her affective communication.
This treatment reinforces in her the belief that she does not deserve attention and that her loneliness is a deserved punishment.
The combination of lack of external support and internal coldness plunges the victim into deep apathy and distress.
She loses her sense of reality and doubts even her own feelings, becoming a shadow of her former self and losing the energy to rebel.
Summary
Isolation is fundamental for control; the aggressor initiates smear campaigns against the victim's family and friends, eliminating witnesses and external references so that his distorted reality is the only available truth.
Paradoxically, the victim herself ends up isolating herself to avoid conflicts or external judgments, changing her social behavior for shame and confusion, which closes the circle of loneliness facilitating the absolute dominance of the abuser.
Added to this is the emotional isolation within the cohabitation, where coldness and lack of affective communication plunge the woman into apathy, losing the vital energy necessary to rebel.
