Transcription The absence of responsibility and guilt
The mechanism of projection and scapegoating
A central characteristic of the psychological aggressor, especially of the perverse profile, is their absolute inability to take responsibility for their actions or mistakes.
They lack real subjectivity for self-criticism, so they use the projection mechanism to dump any failure or problem on the victim.
If the relationship goes badly, if he has problems at work or if he is unfaithful, the blame will always be on the partner.
The victim becomes the permanent "scapegoat" who bears all the ills, which allows the aggressor to maintain a position of innocence and moral superiority.
This transfer of blame is so systematic that the victim ends up believing that she is the cause of the violence she suffers.
Reification and lack of empathy
To be able to abuse without feeling guilty, the aggressor must dehumanize his victim.
In the mind of the pervert, the other does not exist as a human being with independent feelings and rights, but as a useful object or an obstacle. This "reification" eliminates the possibility of empathy.
The aggressor is indifferent to the suffering he causes; in fact, he often enjoys it because the victim's pain is tangible proof of his power and control over her.
There is no compassion, even when the victim is ill or in crisis; on the contrary, they may take advantage of this vulnerability to attack more harshly, demonstrating an insensitivity that is incomprehensible to any outside observer.
Avoidance of Accountability (DARVO Technique)
When attempts are made to confront the aggressor with his or her behavior, the aggressor deploys defensive manipulative strategies to avoid accountability.
A common technique (identified in forensic psychology) is to reverse the roles of victim and offender (DARVO: Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender).
The aggressor denies the facts or minimizes their importance ("you are an exaggerator"), attacks the victim's credibility ("you are crazy") and finally presents himself as the aggrieved party.
For example, if the woman claims affection, he will accuse her of burdening him and causing him stress, causing her to end up asking for forgiveness for having emotional needs.
This dynamic prevents any conflict resolution and perpetuates the cycle of abuse, since the aggressor never admits to having done harm.
Summary
The psychological aggressor is incapable of taking responsibility for his actions. He uses the mechanism of projection to systematically blame the victim for all problems, making her the scapegoat for his own failures.
In order to abuse without feeling guilty, he needs to dehumanize and objectify his partner. Seeing her as a useful object and not as a human being, he lacks empathy for her suffering, even enjoying the control exercised.
In the face of confrontation, he uses manipulative techniques such as DARVO to avoid accountability. He denies the facts, attacks the victim's credibility and reverses the situation to present himself as the offended party.
