Beyond the Conversation: Multiple Tasks

The role of the coach goes far beyond simply talking to the coachee. The coach's responsibility is evident in the multitude of tasks and functions he or she actively performs throughout the process.

Whether coaching individuals, teams or in an organizational context, facilitating the coachee's success is not a simple task.

It requires the coach to know and apply a variety of techniques, methods and strategies to effectively help the client achieve his or her goals.

These functions define the coach's practical work and demonstrate the coach's active involvement in the client's progress.

Providing Methodological Advice and Process Counseling

An important function is to offer advice and counsel, but with a crucial nuance: this advice focuses on the coaching process and developmental methodologies, not on providing direct solutions to the client's problems.

The coach advises on how to approach a goal, what tools may be useful, how to structure an action plan or how to manage the learning process itself, but refrains from dictating what the coachee should do in his or her personal or professional life.

Providing Constructive Feedback

Another essential function is to provide constructive feedback. Throughout the process, the coach observes the coachee's behavior, communication and progress.

Based on these observations, he or she offers specific, development-oriented feedback.

This feedback is not a criticism, but a tool to increase the client's self-awareness, point out blind spots, recognize strengths and suggest areas for improvement, always with the goal of facilitating learning and adjusting the coachee's actions.

Inspiring a Vision and Fostering Personal Leadership

The coach also fulfills the function of inspiring a vision, helping the coachee to connect with his or her deepest aspirations and to visualize the future he or she wishes to create.

Through questioning and exploration, the coach facilitates the client in defining a motivating vision to guide him/her.

Linked to this, the coach encourages the development of personal leadership, empowering the coachee to take control of his or her own process and life.

Accompanying in Real Situations and Guiding Development

Coaching is a central function. The coach walks alongside the coachee, offering support and perspective in real situations as the coachee implements his or her action plan and faces challenges.

This accompaniment does not involve doing the work for the client, but being present as a resource and reflective partner.

In addition, the coach motivates and guides the development process, helping the client to maintain focus, overcome moments of doubt or discouragement, and celebrate progress.

Implementing Innovative Strategies

Finally, the coach has the role of implementing innovative strategies. This involves not only applying familiar tools and techniques, b
