Transcription Learn to say no

How to decide between a good and a bad choice? Our work as a coach is based on interpersonal relationships as a fundamental theme and business in this case. To be constantly exchanging with clients and staff, to be in function of their needs naturally makes us look like a very positive person, but how to say no in business? As we can understand not all business is good; sometimes we change our mind about an agreement and it is right to consider our decisions. Customers always come to us looking for a solution, but when that solution is not a good deal for us, it is better to say no without fear.

Problem customers.

As a first example of situations in which it is better to refuse when we are in front of a customer that we identify as problematic. The best thing to do during the work is to avoid all kinds of mishaps and situations that represent a problem; with our experience in the field and the years we learn through intuition to identify good and bad business, it is necessary on our part to know how to defend our company from avoidable conflicts. When we are in the presence of a problematic client the best strategy is to say no beforehand to avoid bad experiences, but in any case it is necessary to act with intelligence to maintain the image and reputation of the company.

Professionalism.

Imagine that we have in front of us a proposal that we cannot cover on time or we do not have the knowledge to give a correct solution. Perhaps for not losing the client we try to take on a difficult proposal for our company, it is always better to say no in time before getting involved in an impossible challenge. As part of our code of professionalism as a Coach it is advisable to refuse intelligently so as not to be insufficient in front of the clients who are paying for a service. Professionalism includes not only our ability to take on challenges, but also the intelligence to refuse in the face of a losing battle.

Critical vision.

Since we are the critical vision of our own business, if we have a work team we must know how to say no to wrong judgments of our colleagues regarding the business or its management. Perhaps as a matter of introverted respect or to keep being a person liked by others, we allow changes or decisions that may harm the company in the long run. Mistakes are something natural in human beings and are part of the learning process, but it is better to be able to correct them before seeing greater damage. Even when we say no to our work team with important arguments we activate in them the critical vision before a good or bad step.

Productivity.

We as Coach are at the helm of the business, when we do not know how to say no in time we lose the focus of our main objective. When we have access to a will that does not interest us, the impetus at work is not the same and this impetus affects the work productivity, moving us away from our will. Productivity increases in the sense of our motivation with the proposals that we accept and in the same way decreases when a proposal lacks interest for us, knowing this it is better to accept only what motivates us to work. It is advisable to dedicate our efforts only to projects that represent a benefit for the productivity of the business.

Unfavorable treatment.

A constantly negative person is not very favorable for business, but in the face of unfavorable or unprofitable deals, refusal may be the best option. One of the consequences of not knowing how to say no is the loss of time that we can dedicate to activities of more interest; our time is a very precious resource and knowing its value can be advantageous for us to take advantage of other opportunities to which we dedicate ourselves. Losing money is a problem that we cannot have in our business, by accepting unfavorable deals for compromise we run the risk of facing economic difficulties that affect our finances.

Benefit of saying no.
