It is not a common practice for both the manager and the HR representative to be together at this presentation.

The Manager's Role at the Start of the Meeting (The "Why")

The manager's role in this meeting is strategic and focuses on three key moments, starting at the beginning. It should be the manager who takes the initiative and introduces the meeting.

His main task in this opening is to explain to the candidate why he was selected; he should detail the specific competencies, strengths and aspects of his experience that convinced the team to make the decision.

The objective is to make the candidate understand the value that the company perceives in him/her and how his/her incorporation will benefit the team.

It is even advisable to describe the positive results the candidate achieved in the different stages of the selection process.

Transparency about Support and Development

In addition to reinforcing the positive, the manager should be transparent in this initial phase about the areas of opportunity detected.

It is important to mention the support that the company is willing to offer the candidate in those aspects in which he/she still requires coaching or training.

This honesty balances the conversation and sets realistic expectations.

HR's Role in the Body of the Meeting (The "What")

Once the manager has completed this introduction (the "why" of the hire), he or she should formally yield the floor to the HR representative.

At this point, HR will be responsible for presenting the technical and economic details of the proposal: salary, corporate benefits, specific contract terms, and any other legal aspects of importance.
