Transcription The journey vs. the destination. enjoying the process

When setting and pursuing goals, it is common to focus intensely on the end result, the desired destination.

However, a fundamental perspective for sustained wellness is learning to enjoy the journey, the very process of working toward those goals, and not just the achievement of the accomplishment itself.

The "I'll Be Happy When..." Trap

Many people fall into the trap of thinking that happiness will come only when they reach a specific goal (a new job, a relationship, a material possession).

This approach postpones happiness and can lead to a life of constant striving without present enjoyment. Moreover, once one goal is achieved, a new one often emerges, turning life into an endless pursuit of future destinations rather than a rewarding experience in the now.

The Importance of Daily Activities

Since the road to a goal can be a long one, it is essential that the daily activities undertaken to move toward it are, for the most part, enjoyable or meaningful.

If the process is a constant source of stress or displeasure, it is unlikely that the final achievement will compensate for the accumulated discomfort.

For example, if the goal is to write a book, and the daily act of writing is experienced as torture, it is difficult to maintain motivation and well-being.

Instead, if pleasure or meaning is found in the research, writing and development of ideas, the process becomes enriching in itself.

Designing a Pleasant and Meaningful Journey

When defining the vision and goals, one must also consider how to make the path to them as congruent as possible wi
