Transcription The study sheet

The support technique that we will address below had its greatest boom before the Internet revolution, where access to information had a higher cost, so it was necessary to rely on some tools that could guide us later to return to them. We are not referring to the so-called study cards, which although they seem to have fallen into disuse, today they are once again being taken up as an intelligent complement to organize and enhance performance during our study days.

Taking into account the importance of rescuing this support technique and adapting it to new needs and circumstances, we will address this issue in the following guide, reviewing the basic aspects that distinguish it, so that you can include it as another tool in your study sessions.

What are study worksheets?

Study cards are a kind of cards or brief summaries that synthesize the essence of the information that we have consulted or summarized. They can contain bibliographic data, textual summaries, personal criticisms or any other aspect of interest.

A study card is a customizable tool, so it should respond to the student's needs. Its objective is to facilitate the processes of consultation and information management, speeding up the study and contributing positively to the processes of memorization of the content.

How to elaborate a study card?

Study cards are characterized by containing a coherent order in which the fundamental aspects of the content being studied are detailed. It is recommended to start with a heading that reflects the title of the topic, book or article that we have consulted. This heading must be faithful to the original, it is not recommended that it is paraphrased, so that it does not hinder the possible later consultations that we want to make to the document.

Then we can add other data such as the date of publication, the author, the site we have accessed to obtain such information. Within the author's data, we can add some biographical elements that expand his personal information or contextualize his relationship with the work and the reason for its creation.

It is common that we study in the middle of a subject for a particular evaluation, where we make several consultations in different sources, this leads to the fact that once we face final exams and we must retake the study we do not know where we extracted the information or we can not access it again. That is why these first data that we have noted down will allow us to retake these notes if we need to consult them again.

Once we have detailed all the distinctive data of the material we have consulted, we have two options in this regard. The first is to add textual quotations of parts of the content that are relevant to us. These should be short notes suc
