Transcription Feynman technique

The Feynman technique is widely known and studied from the field of teaching and research. It was created in the 20th century by the renowned scientist who bears his name. It is a very useful tool for every student, since it facilitates the memorization and learning processes, achieving a better performance during the study days.

It is a technique designed to be applied from the most basic to the most complex aspects, suffice it to say that its author made use of this method, and we are talking about a brilliant physicist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics.

Taking into account the importance and practical utility that we can find in the knowledge of this technique, we propose the following lines, where we will outline the basic aspects that characterize this unique method of study.

What does it consist of?

Feynman's technique or method is a learning methodology structured in four logical steps, with the aim of organizing the information and enhancing the memory process. Each step is related to the previous one, in a sequence that seeks to break down the concept to the highest degree of simplicity possible, so that the assimilation of that concept during the study is less costly.

Be clear about the concept you will be working on

The first step is apparently the simplest, it is nothing more than being clear about the concept you want to understand. You cannot apply the technique if you do not have a clear objective to which it is directed.

That is why Feynman recommends using a sheet of paper or any medium that allows you to write and reflect clearly the exact name of the concept on which you will work. So the first step will be to write the exact name, without further accompaniment, of the concept you are going to work on.

Explain it to a friend

The next step is to simulate that we are going to explain the concept to a friend, actually the idea is that under the name of the concept you try to define in your words and in the simplest possible way what the concept consists of.

Obviously there will be issues that you are not very clear yet, otherwise you would not be applying this method. But the logic of this step is just that, that you can notice what you know and what you don't know about what you are explaining. That is why in this explanation you will start with what you know and then say what you don't know.

Focus on the part you don't understand.

Now that you are clear about what you understand and what you don't understand, just focus on the part you don't understand. Reread that part again and try to analyze it carefully, if there is any
