Transcription SQ4R Technique
There are many study techniques focused on streamlining the learning process and the completion of tasks of students, these differ from each other by the methods and purposes to which it is directed. We can find techniques or methods that focus on memorization, intensive work in short periods of time, productivity and concentration and others that are aimed at long-term study.
The technique that we will analyze below is known as the SQ4R method, which belongs to the group of techniques for long-term study, which involve a considerable amount of hours and demand a greater effort from the student.
Due to the importance of this topic for training and support in the teaching process, we will dedicate the following lines to the study of this method, where we will analyze the basic aspects that define it so that you can incorporate it in your study sessions.
What does the SQ4R method consist of?
This is a technique that is quite adaptable to the particular needs of the student, its focus is directed towards the resolution of comprehension problems that arise during long study days. This method is used in the organization and assimilation of multiple concepts, making it a fairly comprehensive technique.
For its implementation, the method is divided into a series of steps with a logical sequence, which allows us to unravel the aspects we need to understand in an effective way that contributes significantly to the use of time.
It is a very effective technique in exam periods, where we must study long syllabi in order to prepare for possible questions that may appear during the exam.
Step 1
The first step of the SQ4R technique is to inspect (this is the one that refers to the S in SQ4R, according to its English translation "Survey").
It is a simple but very important step, since inspecting is nothing more than carrying out a general survey of everything we have to study and everything we must study. It is understood from a double vision, we must have well defined what we must face and know what we have to do it. Therefore, we will gather all the materials at our disposal and we will reflect the contents that we must overcome to be ready for that exam.
Step 2
Step 2 is the "Question" (Q of SQ4R). This is the step where the student proceeds to make a kind of "rain of possible questions" that could appear in the exam. We must be as generalizing as possible, any question that comes to mind regarding what we should study has to be noted down.
Step 3
This step would be the first R of SQ4R. This R is in reference to "read". To read in this sense is to read in depth, you have to make a comprehensive reading of all the content, in order to give answers to the questions you have pre
