Transcription Annex ii: allergenic or intolerance-causing foods

Annex II of Regulation No. 1169/2011 lists foods that cause allergic reactions or intolerances in humans, which are mandatory on product labeling within the European Union.

It is important to provide sensitive consumers with information on foods that have been shown to cause allergic reactions or adverse intolerances, so that they are able to choose the foods they are going to consume, based on reliable and safe information on the content of the products.

It is mandatory to show in the labeling these ingredients, adjuvants or allergenic substances, whenever they are used in food processing and are present in the final product, regardless of whether it is in a modified form or not.

In order to provide reliable and safe information to consumers, based on the latest findings, techniques and scientific advances, this list of allergenic substances will be reviewed and updated periodically. List of allergenic foods that must be mentioned.
