Strategies to maintain the conversational space

To maintain conversational space, it is important that our body language is firm and clear.

The first strategy is to slightly raise the volume of our voice and maintain strong eye contact with the person who is interrupting us.

At the same time, we can move toward the center of the group to get everyone's attention.

The second strategy is to verbalize the request to be allowed to finish.

Phrases such as "Wait, I'm not finished yet" or "Let me finish, please" are effective for assertively setting boundaries.

Reclaiming conversational space

In a chaotic group conversation, it is not always possible to maintain space, and we are likely to be interrupted.
