Transcription Belief in the ability to change

Fundamental belief in one's own ability to change habits is the first and most crucial secret to successful personal transformation.

Without this inner conviction, any attempt to adopt new routines or abandon old ones may be undermined from the outset.

The Power of Belief

Research suggests that when a person truly believes in something - in this case, in his or her ability to establish a new mindfulness habit or any other desired change - this conviction can generate changes even at the cellular level in the body.

The mind and body are interconnected, and a firm belief can mobilize internal resources to support change.

Similarly, if one does not believe in the possibility of change, this lack of faith can act as a self-imposed barrier, limiting effort and perseverance.

The Importance of a "Big Why".

For the belief in the ability to change to be strong and motivating, it is essential to connect it to a "big why," a deep and meaningful reason for making the effort.

Simply wanting to change a habit or lose weight without a powerful reason behind it rarely leads to sustained success.

This "big why" can arise from various sources, such as the responsibility towards one's own health in order to be present for the family, as in the example of someone who lost his young parents and decides to take care of himself in order to be available for his own children and grandchildren.

Finding this intrinsic and personal motivation is what truly drives and sustains the change process, reinforcing the belief that it can be achieved.
