Transcription Proteins

Proteins are one of the most important macronutrients in the human diet. Its contribution to the body is of vital importance for the performance of all vital functions of this. The absence of a balanced diet, rich in proteins, can cause a series of disorders and affectations for the body, which considerably degenerate the quality of life of the person.

In the student stage we need proteins, since it is a period of great demand for the organism, where energy is consumed on a large scale and our brain demands large amounts of nutrients.

The following is a basic analysis of the importance of protein consumption for the human organism and its impact on the learning process.

What are proteins?

Proteins are complex molecules made up of amino acids that are released and absorbed in the intestine after digestion. Amino acids are linked in chains and their sequence defines the structure and function of the protein.

These compounds are vital for the correct functioning of the organism. Of a total of 20 amino acids, 9 cannot be synthesized in our body and we need to ingest them through our diet. They regulate essential functions in the human body by converting into enzymes or hormones such as thyroid, adrenaline or insulin and are also an alternative energy supply.

Can I get protein if I am a vegetarian?

Although there is a myth that vegetarians suffer from insufficient protein in their meals, this is false. Students who wish to maintain a vegetarian lifestyle can still get the protein they need through plant protein.

Vegetable protein is the one that comes from plants, they are very beneficial for the functioning of various organs and are characterized by their low fat content. It has other significant qualities such as its high presence of fibers and the absence of cholesterol in it. In general, like animal protein, it is composed of various amino acids that interact in most of the vital functions of our body.

Among the foods of vegetable origin with the highest protein content are lentils, soybeans and chickpeas. Generally, legumes are rich in vegetable protein. Cereals have good levels of this, among others, we can find rice, wheat, oats and corn. Another source of vegetable origin rich in protein is nuts, such as walnuts and almonds.

Importance of proteins

Proteins are essential for the human organism. This nutrient plays a fundamental role in the growth and development of our body, to get an idea, protein has amino acids that are essential for life, if these
