Transcription Sequential reading

Reading is one of those skills that we first learn as children, reading is one of the most important bases of communication. Our ability to understand a text is significantly affected when we are not good readers, since the poor development of this skill, coupled with a limited vocabulary, can delay us in unnecessary repetitions, stops in words and concepts that we should master or basic errors such as confusing one word for another.

That is why the ability to read fast is learned very young and never stops developing. The more we read, the more agile we become, so that we can get more out of our time when dealing with a given text.

Next we will approach one of the most complete reading techniques that exist, this is called "Sequential Reading", we will review the distinctive elements of it, so that you can decide if it is of your interest to develop it to improve your study sessions.

What does sequential reading consist of?

Sequential reading seeks to promote a fast but effective reading in order to assimilate the contents. Unlike other reading techniques, this one does not seek to sacrifice speed for comprehension, but rather to integrate based on the development of the student's reading skills, eliminating certain habits that are counterproductive to achieve these objectives.

When we make use of sequential reading, we proceed to practice reading in sequence without stopping at any point. When we read as we are used to, we pause, reread paragraphs, stop to look up meanings in the dictionary, among other actions that slow down reading time. With this style of reading, sequential reading, we avoid any of the previous points and focus only on being as concentrated as possible when reading, eliminating or reducing any external distraction that may cause an unnecessary stop.

If we find ourselves reading and we want to reread the same paragraph because we think we have not understood it well, we will just continue reading, the same applies to the words we do not understand. This is what is recommended with sequential reading, because the most common thing is that the context of the following paragraphs allows you to clarify the one you have already read or the word that you do not master its concept, generally these interruptions are the result of bad practices when reading, where we are not truly focused on what we read or we have many distractions around us.

Recommendations

Sequential reading will cost you a lot of work at the beginning, especially if you do not have a good reading level, this can be overwhelming because you will be tempted to go back to all the harmful practices that we have mentioned above. That's why before using it to read important documents, try putting it into practice with texts tha
