Autonomy as a core value of happiness and a shield against control.

Autonomy is not just a philosophical concept, but the strongest predictor of life satisfaction.

Studies indicate that the ability to direct one's own life correlates more with happiness than material wealth.

In the context of psychic defense, autonomy represents the recovery of free will, the central value that defines us as humans.

If a person lacks autonomy, he or she loses his or her humanity and becomes an object at the service of another's will.

Although we live in society and follow rules, autonomy implies maintaining an internal sense of freedom and choice.

The manipulator seeks to merge his identity with that of the victim in order to erase this independence.

Thus, defense requires establishing a sharp distinction: "this is me, this is you."

Even within a couple or family, it is vital to maintain one's own goals, ambitions and identity, separate from the collective.

If one does not actively define oneself, the manipulator will fill that void with a subservient identity.

Defining one's identity and reserving time for introspection

To sustain this autonomy in the face of external pressures, the practice of self-mastery through the management of time and mental space is essential.

One concrete strategy is to systematically set aside time for solitude and introspection. This is not a luxury, but a defensive necessity.

This personal space allows one to "recalibrate" one's internal compass, to evaluate whether life is moving in the desired direction and to disconnect from the constant influence of the environment.

If a person devotes 100% of his or her energy to caring for others or responding to external demands, he or she loses balance and, with it, the capacity for self-direction.

Time alone strengthens one's own judgment, allowing for reflection and self-evaluation without the noise of manipulation.
