POTENTIAL PROBLEM: PRODUCT PACKAGED IN INCORRECT PACKAGING

Critical preventive element: Packaging management. Good practice considerations:

• Bring correct packaging to the production line.

• No incorrect packaging remains after production changeover.

• The name of the person responsible for record keeping and documentation is known.

• Packaging for different products is clearly distinguished to avoid confusion.

• Avoid mixing different containers on a pallet.

• Specialized personnel working on the line to allow for interpretation of foreign language packaging.

• Avoid storing different types of containers on the line.

• Consistency of allergen color coding on packaging.

• Clear and accurate pallet labeling and allergen storage control.

• Adequate lighting in the work area.

• Separation of packaging types when receiving from suppliers.

• Management of partially used packaging material.

• Responsible control of repackaging for allergen management.

• Proper control of multi-component packaging.

• Proper control of inner and outer wrapping of multi-component packaging.
