Pre-employment medical examination and its importance

Health prevention begins before the first day of work by ordering a pre-employment medical examination.

This evaluation, performed by occupational physicians, is intended to certify that the individual has the physical and mental well-being necessary to perform the assigned tasks without risk to his or her health or that of others.

It is a recommended practice to establish a baseline on the health status of the worker when he/she enters the company, which allows to determine legal responsibilities in case of possible future illnesses or accidents.

The occupational psychologist collaborates in this diagnosis by assessing cognitive and emotional factors that could influence adaptation to the position and the prevention of psychosocial risks.

Provision of uniforms and protective equipment

As a final part of the physical integration, the company must provide the necessary implements for safe work.

This includes the provision of appropriate uniforms and, especially in operational positions, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as helmets, glasses, gloves or safety footwear.

Physical delivery is not enough; the worker must be instructed on the correct use, maintenance and vital importance of these implements for their physical integrity.

This action is a tangible reflection of the organization's commitment to a culture of safety and respect for the lives of its personnel.

Working safely is a competence that should be fostered from the first minute of onboarding.
