Origins of coaching - life coaching
We can find the origins of coaching as we know it today in the sports world in the USA, it was a way to train and motivate athletes to reach their maximum performance.
These lessons have been extrapolated to the most diverse fields of human activity. The business structure has taken up this teaching and more and more professionals from different sectors are turning to this alternative to improve their performance.
But coaching has philosophical, psychological and other school roots, as we will see below.
The first historical antecedent that we can find of coaching dates back to the 470s in Greek philosophy with Socrates and his maieutics, with Plato and his idealism, also his disciple Aristotle and his realistic philosophy will have a great importance. Thus, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle are the first antecedents of Coaching and are considered the fathers of Western philosophy.
