Transcription Are you what you do?

Maintaining an adequate coherence between what we believe in and what we defend, with what we do on a daily basis, is essential when it comes to aligning our values and ethical principles with our actions. The virtues that we are not able to show become non-existent in the eyes of others. It is worthless to know that we can project a powerful and positive image to society when we choose to maintain negative patterns of behavior that interfere with the way others think we are.

As long as we do not know how to show what we carry inside, we will be judged by our actions and not by our value system. For those who see us from the outside, we are what we do and only that matters when it comes to creating an image of our person. During the development of this guide we will be addressing some of the basic aspects that revolve around this topic, thus analyzing the importance of our actions in the image we project to society.

Do not hide your virtues

Your virtues and talents are there to be shown and shared, hiding them will only make them non-existent for those who do not know us. They will judge us by our defects, this is something natural, so it is also important that they know our positive aspects, since the negative ones will always be in the light without us being able to do much to hide them. It is not wrong to know our negative side, this is part of us and complements our personality, the mistake is to be afraid or ashamed to show what stands out positively in us.

Is the image that others have of us important?

Regardless of the fact that the most important thing is how you perceive yourself, the image that others have of us should also be of great interest to us. It is a reality that we cannot deny, what others think we are is formed as a result of what they appreciate about us. It would be irresponsible to say that we do not need others to have a positive view of us, the reality is that we are social beings and we depend a lot on our interaction with the environment around us.

You should always try to take care of the image you project, pay attention to the way others perceive you and understand what are the factors that are influencing the way you perceive yourself. The idea is not that you live pending to what others believe about you, but that you make an effort so that your social image is coherent with what you believe in and the value system you profess.

An individual is not a reflection of your social image.

You should not confuse your social image with the image that a particular individual may have of you. Before letting yourself be impacted by the opinion of a small group of people, you should ask yourself if this is indeed the image that the vast majority has about us. There are many factors that can influence us to be perceived in a wrong way, among them are the specific experiences of each person.

However, this does not mean that we are the ones who should improve something of our behavior, but it may be due to a very particular event, which is not at all a reflection of what we are projecting. You should not fake your personality to please others, just worry about being an honest person in what you do, behave coherently towards what you believe and do not imitate other people's attitudes in order to fit into social groups that are not compatible with your system of values and ethical principles.
