Today we will continue to learn about the language of color, today we will refer to blue, violet, black, white and gray.
Blue
- The color blue symbolizes infinity, spirit, intelligence, tranquility, loyalty, sincerity; it can also symbolize cunning, coldness, indifference.
- Blue, being associated to water and sky, transmits calmness, confidence; it calms and relaxes us. Blue tones stimulate concentration and thought, that is why it is a color widely used in study rooms, game rooms and gymnasiums.
- The intense blue shade, although it is the favorite color of many people, can transmit coldness, however, in rooms exposed to sunlight this quality is considerably attenuated.
- When green is added to blue, much warmer tones are obtained, for example, turquoise blue, or cyan, is widely used in any interior room, especially in the rooms of children and male adolescents.
Violet
- The color violet symbolizes romance, melancholy, delicacy, royalty, luxury; it can also symbolize penitence, sadness and suffering.
- Although violet has been used in interiors to highlight elegance and luxury, it is a color that should be used with great care, especially in its darker shades, because of its depressive effects. It is recommended for small surfaces, furniture, carpets and decorative accessories.
- Lighter shades of violet - mauve for example - can be used effectively in bedrooms, due to its sedative effects; however, it is not recommended in hallways, entryways, corridors, living rooms and dining rooms because it can transmit a certain somnolent air.
Black
- The color black symbolizes mystery, elegance, sobriety, formality; it also symbolizes mourning, destruction and death.
- Black is generally used in the decoration of small surfaces associated with other colors; in furniture and decorative accessories. Its indiscriminate use can provoke negative sensations: sadness, oppression, unhappiness.
White
- White symbolizes virtue, purity, innocence and peace; it has practically no negative interpretations.
- White can be used on small and medium-sized surfaces that serve as a background for furniture sets or decorative elements that have another color. When used on large surfaces, without the accompaniment of other colors, it can be very monotonous.
Gray
- Gray symbolizes respect, order, stability and balance. Gray is a neutral color that can be formed by mixing white with black or by mixing different colors.
- The variety of grays formed from the mixture of several colors is widely used in interiors as it allows to obtain gray tones ranging from cold tones derived from blue, to warm gray tones derived from red and yellow.
